Date de décès : 3 mai 2013

WIEBE-Adeline Wiebe, age 88, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2013, at the Herbert & District Integrated Health Facility, with her children at her side. Adeline was born on the family farm near Main Centre, SK on December 30, 1924, the seventh child of Jacob & Lydia Wiebe. She attended Lobethal School completing grade 10. During those early difficult years of the Dirty Thirties mom learnt to work hard, making many sacrifices to help the family survive. There were long hours laboring in the fields, weeding gardens, and making meals. In spite of limited resources and challenging days, the family sang together and relied heavily on their Heavenly Father. Mom claimed Jesus as her personal Savior and followed Him intentionally for the remainder of her life. Mom attended Prairie Bible Institute for 5 years, during which time she further developed her love of music. She sang in a trio with her sister Helen and Kay Ens. She was a member of the choir and occasionally found herself singing solos for various events. Her mother became ill shortly after the Bible School years were completed and mom spent the next several years tenderly caring for her parents. To supplement the income she began to work at the Herbert Hospital, first in the dietary department and eventually taking her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training in Saskatoon. She loved working as a nurse and provided compassionate, knowledgeable care to many patients. In 1962, she met and married Herb Wiebe. They had 3 children, Brenda, Grace and Grant. For 42 years they farmed 8 miles north of Herbert. Mom was an outdoor kind of woman! She much preferred the garden over the kitchen, the flowerbeds over cleaning the house. Gently, mom raised her family and ministered to her neighbors and community. She loved having people into her home, delivering baked goods from her kitchen or leaving a bouquet of flowers for someone to enjoy. Music continued to be an important part of her life. Mom and dad made many trips across the country visiting children, grandchildren, family and friends. She and her sister, Laura even ventured a 3 week trip to Africa to visit their sister, Helen. Mom and dad retired from farm life in 2004, but chose not to retire from life! Life in Herbert carried on much the same as in the country interacting with family and friends and staying involved in their church community. Adeline will be deeply missed by her family: her husband, Herb, of 50 years; daughters, Brenda (Kevin) Epp their sons, Michael and Matthew of Swift Current, SK, Grace Wiebe of Halifax, NS; and son, Grant (Ann) Wiebe their children, Katie, Olivia, and Jared of London, ON. She is also survived by her brother, Albert (Kay) Wiebe; relatives, Art & Eve Redekop, John & Agatha Wiebe, Selma Friesen, Pete & Nettie Wiebe, Peter & Hildy Dyck, Walter & Clara Wiebe, and Otto & Lydia Wiebe.
The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at 2:00 pm from the Mennonite Brethren Church, Herbert, SK with Pastor Kirk Ehrhart officiating. The pianist for the service was Karen Grand. Scripture was read by Jared Wiebe and Matthew Epp. “Nearer My God to Thee”, “Draw Me Nearer”, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”, “There is a Redeemer” and “Sing the Wondrous Love of Jesus” were sung by the congregation under the direction of Henry Braun. Adeline’s life story was read by Katie Wiebe and Olivia Wiebe. Tributes were shared by Doreen Schroeder and Brenda Epp. A Prayer of Thanksgiving was brought by Grace Wiebe. Special music was brought by trumpeters, Jack Epp, Kevin Epp and Michael Epp. The message was shared by David Wiebe. The ushers in the church were Garth Dueck, Richard Forest, Brian Schulz and Wes Redekop. The Interment Service preceded the Funeral Service and was held at the Herbert Cemetery, Herbert, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Kevin Epp, Grant Wiebe, Michael Epp, Matthew Epp, Jared Wiebe and Jerry Schroeder. In memory of Adeline Wiebe, donations made to West Bank Bible Camp, Box 1841, Swift Current, SK, S9H 4M6 would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK. For further information or to sign the Family Book of Condolences, please go to swiftcurrentfuneralhome.com
