LORNE, Pictou County – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear sweet husband, father and grandfather, Robert “Bob” Tait of Lorne after a lengthy battle with COPD.
Bob was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on June 1, 1926. He was the son of the late Clayton and Alida (Black) Tait of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
Bob was an adherent of St. Columba United Church, Hopewell and a member of the Carpenters Union Local 1392.
Bob built many homes and remembered and spoke of every job. He was an ardent hunter, fisherman and loved the outdoors. Bob knew every lake and road in Nova Scotia and everyone who frequented them. Bob’s big thing was when he took Cindy O’Brien for a drive in “Kermit” his green truck which she later published a story on.
He was a very special friend to Henry Gosbee who went everywhere with him, he was Bob’s right hand man.
Bob will be sadly missed by his wife, the former Evelyn Green; daughters, Gloria (Mike) Yorke, Lorne; Rosalie Tait, Lorne; grandchildren: Beverly Yorke, New Glasgow; Kathy (Roddie) Crockett, Marshdale; Ashley Nichols, Hopewell; Brittany Himmelman, Stellarton; great-grandchildren: Clinton Yorke, Mitchell and Janine Crockett, Madison and Makaya Nichols; a sister Norma Gow, British Columbia.
He was predeceased by a grandson Donald Robert Yorke.
Cremation will take place. There will be no visitation or funeral by request. A private graveside service will take place at a later date.
No flowers by request.
“ May your heart be free
And your time be spent on
The Great Lakes in heaven
You will be sadly missed by all.”
