It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bond Penney announce his passing on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Health Science Centre in St. John’s at the age of 89 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 69 years Marion (Stead); children: Ella (Jerry) Ingram, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kaye (David) Power, Clarenville and Randy (Paula) Penney, Torbay; grandchildren: Warren (Kari) Ingram, Wade Ingram, Melissa (Robert) Percy, Erin Power, Matthew Power, Julia Penney and Danielle Penney; great-grandchildren: Barrett Ingram, Kayley Ingram and Emma Percy; brother Everett Penney, Corner Brook; sisters-in-law: Myrtle Abbott, Bonavista, Florence Bouck, London, Ontario and Jean Kaspryzk, Bonavista; brother-in-law Harvey (Minnie) Stead, Bonavista; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Rufus and Julia Penney, brothers Wilfred and Bert Penney, sisters and brother-in-law Classie Saint, Ronald Stead and Ella Hicks. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 18 at 2:00 p.m. from First United Church with Rev. Harry Whitehorne officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of one’s choice.
