Bertha 'Snookie' MacAulay

Bertha ‘Snookie’ MacAulay of MacKenzie Drive, Coxheath, formerly of Kane Street, Sydney, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013.
Born on July 17, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Margaret (MacPherson) Ferguson.
Bertha was a long time member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. She was a lifetime member of the church choir and the John Geddie AMS. Bertha was also a founding and lifetime member of the Bethel Friendship Guild.
She is survived by her daughters, Edna (John) Weatherbee, Sydney, Fonnie, Halifax; sons, Donald (Kaye) MacAulay, Stephenville, N.L. ,and Fred (Shelagh) MacAulay, Coxheath (with whom she resided); grandchildren, Kollin (Tammy) Weatherbee, Kara (Dylan) Boudreau, John, Margaret and Elizabeth MacAulay; great-grandchildren, Leah Weatherbee and Duncan Boudreau; brother, John (Harriett) Ferguson, St. Jean, Que., and many nieces and nephews.
Bertha was predeceased by her devoted husband of 58 years, Duncan; sister, Mary Mulvihill and brother, George Ferguson.
Visitation will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Saturday, May 18 from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, May 19 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Bethel Presbyterian Church on Monday, May 20 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Robert Lyle officiating. Interment will take place in Hardwood Hill Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethel Church Benevolent Fund, 9 Brookland St., Sydney, NS, B1P5B1 or a charity of your choice.
