It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Attilio Ravanello at home in Medicine Hat, Alta. on May 15, 2013.
Born in Glace Bay on June 14, 1943, he was a son of the late Jean (Tetanish) and Attilio Ravanello, Trout Brook Road, Mira.
Richard is survived by his three sons, Rick (Michelle), California, Christopher (Kate), Vancouver, Laurence (Ronda), Fort St. John, B.C. and their mother, Katherine (Calder) Ravanello; by his twin daughters, Michaela and Hannah in Medicine Hat their mother, Jill (Jarves) Ravanello. Also his four grandchildren, Ashlee, Hudsen, Attilio and Emma; brothers, Victor (Sandi), Trout Brook, Arthur (Catherine), Lake Ainslie; sisters, Carole (Irwin) Ross, Joan (Robert) MacDonald, both of Trout Brook and Patricia (Hal) Boon, Lower Sackville and many nieces and nephews, who loved him very much.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his youngest son, Michael.
Richard was an accomplished musician, he played many instruments, loved to sing and play his guitar. He played bass in a band with his good friend, Monk Pretty. He loved to fish and hunt, he successfully raced hydroplane boats in the 1960s. He worked as an iron worker, plumber and a truck driver, he could turn his hand to anything. He was well liked and loved by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
Cremation has taken place and a service will be held in Cape Breton at a later date.
Donations in Richard’s memory may be made to palliative care, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
