It is with sadness that the family of Ernest James Melanson (Ernie) announce his passing on May 18th after a short battle with cancer. Ernie Melanson of Pembroke, beloved husband for 44 years to Barbara Melanson (nee Maahs). Much loved father of Greg (Celine), Jamie (Jeannine) and Rob. Loving poppa to Gavin, Nolan, Kaitlin and Matthew. Predeceased by his parents Richard and Mary (nee Dow) Melanson, Sackville NB and by brother Leon. Survived by siblings Ada (Hal) Ramsay, Anne Kent (late John), Kathy (Joseph) Estabrooks, Marguerite (Elbert) White, Evelyn (George) Ayer, Marion (late Oscar) Locy, Malcolm (Rose) Melanson and David Melanson. Also survived by mother-in-law Bernadette Maahs, in-laws Terry and Gale Maahs, and Katherine and Harold Dodwell, sister-in-law Jeannine Melanson as well as many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday May 27 at 1:00 p.m. in the Church of the Most Holy Name of Jesus, Pembroke. Private Interment at a later date. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will take place at a later date in Sackville. In memory of Ernie donations to the Pembroke Regional Hospital MRI Fund or CHEO.
