Nick Czaban

Date de naissance : 6 juin 1923

Lieu de décès : Vancouver, Colombie Britannique, Canada
Date de décès : 14 avril 2013

He was simply known as Nick. Many people never knew his last name but everyone knew Nick.
He was born at home on June 6, 1923, the seventh of eight children, his birth being registered at Radway Centre.
He received his elementary education in a small country school and went on to Waskatenau for his high school graduation. He worked for some of the farmers and became a truck driver.
When he returned from his stint in the army he decided he should visit his sisters in the Peace River Country. While here he met someone who would change his life forever. After a lengthy courtship, Nick and Phyllis were married in Dawson Creek.
They resided on a little farm in Bay Tree during the first four years together, leaving the first fall to work in Fort Nelson until the spring. While on the farm their son, Darrell, was born at Pouce Coupe Hospital under the guidance of Dr. Hollies. In 1956 they decided to move off the farm, thus Dawson Creek became their home. Their daughter, Susan, was born a few years later, to complete the family.
Nick worked for JD MacEacheran, Northern Freightways, PIX and Dawson Farm Service. In 1970, he and his partners opened RNC Sales. There were some lean years and hard times, but Nick enjoyed his customers immensely; many of who became very dear family friends.
Nick was installed in the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks in 1972. He enjoyed their fellowship and the hard work. He held various roles in the Club, including Exalted Ruler and was the District Deputy for two terms. The day before Nick passed away, he attended the Spring Meeting in Hythe, being driven there and returned home, by his Brother Elks.
Nick spent the last few years having coffee with his friends and enjoying his great grandchildren. He had made plans to be in Victoria, in June, for his 90th birthday and to spend the summer at One Island Lake, fishing. Nick passed away in Vancouver April 14, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents and parents-in-law, four sisters and their spouses and two brothers and their spouses as well as many nieces and nephews and two brothers-in-law.
Nick is survived by his loving family and many friends.
