Eric Ryerson McRorie passed away on May 24, 2013 at the age of 97. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Mabel (Fenton) McRorie, brothers Ken and Glen, and sisters Inez Arthur and Doris Johnston. He will be lovingly remembered by his children; Guy (Karen) McRorie; Terry (Jean) McRorie; John McRorie, Elizabeth (Dave) Holland, Kate (Brian) Ludwar and his sister Kay Templeton. He cherished his twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Eric was born and raised in Avonlea. He joined the Air Force in WWII where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He and Mabel met in England while they were both serving overseas. They were married in September of 1945. They moved to Avonlea and ran the Red & White store with his brother, Glen, until his retirement in 1979. Eric loved his family and was very involved with his community. He was passionate about his sports and was a true “Maple Leaf'” fan to the bitter end. We would like to give special thanks to the caregivers at the Coteau Range Manor, First Responders and exceptionally dedicated friend, Paul Geraghty. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Avonlea United Church at 1:30 PM on Saturday, June 1, 2013. Reverend Marilyn Keerak will officiate.
