Lewis, Wayne A. - 70, of South Brookfield, Queens County, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 28th, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Salisbury, New Brunswick, he was a son of the late George and Ada (Smith) Lewis. A long-time employee of Bowater Mersey, Wayne had worked hard and held the title of Superintendent of the Oakhill Sawmill at the time of his retirement. An avid cyclist all his life, Wayne and his wife enjoyed many years traveling on their motorcycles, spending time together. A loving father and proud grandfather, he could always be counted on to bring joy with his clever sense of humor and endless sense of fun. Wayne had a wonderful gift of making people smile and he will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 51 yrs Jeannette (Freeman); Sons Michael of South Brookfield, George (Janice) of Bridgewater; Daughters, Sheila (Ken) Apostilofski of Ontario, Tammy (Ethan Payzant) of Caledonia; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; Sisters Faye (Kevin) Deagle and Ferne (Alec) Bungay, both of Halifax; Brothers Garnet of Halifax, Cameron (Sheila) of Lunenburg, Loraine (Cora) of Pleasant River. He was predeceased by brothers Conway, Wendell and Stuart. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. At Wayne’s request, there will be no funeral service.
