Derek Blundell of Kamloops passed away on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 70 years of age.

He is survived by his mother Doris Blundell, children Jacqui (Peter) Martell of Kamloops and Michelle (Randall) Blundell-Dunkerley of Kamloops, grandchildren Matthew, Graeme, Mackenzie and Pierah; brothers Brian (Marion) Blundell and Mark (Carolyne) Blundell; brother and sisters in-law in Australia, and many nieces, nephews, aunt, cousins and friends.

Derek was born in Vancouver, B.C. on November 23, 1942. He spent his childhood in Britannia Beach, B.C. and Ashcroft, B.C. As a young adult he was working in Merritt, B.C., where he met the love of his life Clare. They moved to Faro, Yukon Territory briefly and then settled in Kamloops in 1976. Derek made his career as an Assayer for over 40 years. He spent many years volunteering as a member of the BC Board of Assayers, as well as many years as a member of the Brock Lions Club. Apart from his wife Clare, his greatest joy was bringing joy to others, whether it was with his brilliant sense of humour or his anonymous generosity. He was a man with a big heart and a quick wit. dfdf

A Celebration of his Life will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Southwest Community Church, 700 Hugh Allan Dr., Kamloops. Following the service a Wake will be held. Contact the family for details.
