JOHNSTONE, DONALD - It is with deep sadness that we must announce the peaceful passing of Donald "Don" Johnstone, age 62, of Sackville. Don passed away at the Sackville Memorial Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Sackville, he was a son of Eileen (Scott) Johnstone and the late George Johnstone. Don was a well known businessman in the town of Sackville. He loved spending time with his family and especially grandchildren. In his younger years he was a very strong athlete and was Scouted by the Boston Bruins as a Junior Goalie. He continued his love of sports through fishing, bowling and golfing. He was always seen with his close companion "Lady" in the early years, and most recently "Phoebe". In addition to his mother, he will be dearly missed by his wife Debbie, Sackville; three daughters, Jennifer Irvin (Ken Ward), Saint John, NB, Kelly Anne (Adam) Folkins, Hampton, NB, and Danica Johnstone (Jon Chapman), Sackville; two step-sons, Trevor (Lori) Partridge, Killam, AB and Devon (Melanie Read) Partridge, Sackville; several grandchildren; four brothers Doug, Sackville, Brian (Marlene), Salisbury, Paul (Faye), Abbotsford, BC, Stephen, Sackville. He was predeceased by his father George and brother Bill.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Family at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506-364-1300) where visiting hours will take place on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm and on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. His funeral service will take place on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 2 pm at the Middle Sackville Baptist Church, Pastor Vernon Vickruck officiating. Burial will take place in the Sackville Cemetery, followed by reception and fellowship at the church.Those wishing to make a donation in Don's memory may do so to the Middle Sackville Baptist Church Building Fund, the Sackville Memorial Hospital Foundation or the charity of your choice.
