STEEVES, WAYNE ELWOOD JOEL - 1948 - 2013 - Wayne Elwood Joel Steeves, 65, of Riverside-Albert passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 13th, 2013 at the Dr. Georges L-Dumont Hospital with his loving family by his side. Wayne was born in Riverside-Albert on April 6, 1948 the son of the late Roy Steeves and Cecilia (McDuff) Steeves of Moncton. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator with Modern Construction for 42 years. Wayne was very talented and enjoyed wood working and took great pride in fixing up his home, building cupboards and anything else that needed done. He enjoyed hunting and camping and being outdoors. His main priority in life was spending time with his granddaughters, Anna, Natasha, Shannon, and Emily, they were definitely his reason for living. He loved to see his girls and they lightened his days so much. He will be remembered for being a loving Husband, Dad and Gramps, for his great smile and sense of humour. He would want everyone to remember all the fun and good times they have had over the years and to know he is now at peace. " What we keep in memory is ours forever." Besides his mother he will be deeply missed by his wife, Donna (McDonald) Steeves; daughter, Tammy Dixon (Paul) of Lower Coverdale; son, Todd Steeves (Jill) of Riverside-Albert; sisters, Terry Thibeau (Mike) of Memmramcook, Pam Lloyd (Stephen) of Woodstock; step-sister, Edith Lirette (Leroy) of Scoudouc; brothers, Philip Steeves (Hazel) of Moncton, Pastor Danny Steeves (Marilyn) of Moncton, Brian Steeves of BC; step-brothers, Patrick Steeves of NFLD and Roy Jr. Steeves of Moncton; brother-in-law, Bernie McDonald of Riverside-Albert and by all his extended family. He will also be missed by several nieces and nephews.
He will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Sunday, June 16th, 2013 at 2:00pm with Barb Haire officiating. Following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends for further sharing of memories and for refreshments at the funeral home. Interment will be held in the Holy Ghost Cemetery, Hopewell Hill at a later date. Donations to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated.
