MINNIE DIAKUW

Minnie Diakuw

With sadness we announce our Mom's passing on June 21, 2013 in Mayerthorpe Hospital.
She is survived by her sons Bob (Gale) Diakuw of Osler, David Diakuw of Saskatoon,
and daughter Brenda (Herb) Patterson of Whitecourt; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; brother Frank Bielka of Yorkton; sisters Anne (Harold dec’d) Engdahl and Victoria (Bernard) Gordon of Invermere; and many nieces and nephews.
Minnie was predeceased by her parents Vincent and Victoria Bielka, husband Adolphe Diakuw,
three brothers (Mike, Joseph, Stanley) and three sisters (Jean Borchert, Mel Boran, Helen Jankowski).

Minnie was born Michalina Bielka in Poland in 1925 and came to Canada c1928 with her family to homestead the Nut Mountain district. In her youth she was a seamstress in Winnipeg.
Minnie married Dolphy and made her family home in Buchanan. After Dolphy's death she raised us in Prince Albert. She took care of family in need, always fed everyone and made clothes for everyone.
She grew a bountiful garden and hosted feasts on special occasions. Her house was home for many people. Mom loved babies and loved being a Granny. She moved to Saskatoon and Whitecourt to be close to us. We are grateful for all the caregivers at the Mayerthorpe Auxilliary Hospital, Whitecourt Hospital and Spruceview Lodge in Whitecourt for taking care of our Mom.

The Funeral Service will be Thursday, June 27 at 10:00 am at Acadia McKague's Funeral Centre, 915 Acadia Dr. Saskatoon. Burial will be beside Dolphy in St. Anne Cemetery, Buchanan. www.acadiamckaguesfuneralcentre.com (306)955-1600.
