It is with great sadness that the family of the late Leo William Scanlon announce his passing on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders, N.L., at the age of 81 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Gloria, son Daniel (Dorcas) of Plum Point, daughters, Amy (Sandy) House of Port Saunders, Ann (Melvin) Ryan of Corner Brook, N.L., Leona (Gordon) Scanlon Wabasse of Thunder Bay, Ont., Helen (Tom) Hamlyn of Port Saunders, Sonya (Jeremy) Simms of Ottawa. Grandchildren, Danielle, Brittany, Ian (Erin), Brandon, Adam, Neebin, Summer, Angela (Martin); great-granddaughter, Abigail; sisters, Mary (Kevin), Ellen (Raymond), Eileen (Doug), Susan (John); brothers, Roland, Jerome (Noreen); brothers-in-law, Earle (Donna), Hubert (Anne); sister-in-law, Mary (Dave), and a circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Dominic and Jane; brother, Edward; sisters, Elsie, Alma and Betty. The family received friends at St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church in Port Saunders on Thursday evening and Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, from where funeral service took place on Saturday, June 29, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Gabriel officiating. Interment followed at Interfaith Cemetery Sandy Cove. As expressions of sympathy donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
