It is with great sadness that the family of the late Leo William Scanlon of Port Saunders, NL (1931 – 2013) announce his passing on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 81 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Gloria; son Daniel (Dorcas) of Plum Point; daughters Amy (Sandy) House of Port Saunders, Ann (Melvin) Ryan of Corner Brook, Leona (Gordon) Scanlon Wabasse of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Helen (Tom) Hamlyn of Port Saunders, and Sonya (Jeremy) Simms of Ottawa; grandchildren Danielle, Brittany, Ian (Erin), Brandon, Adam, Neebin, Summer, and Angela (Martin); great-granddaughter Abigail; sisters Mary (Kevin), Ellen (Raymond), Eileen (Doug), and Susan (John); brothers Roland, and Jerome (Noreen); brothers-in-law Earle (Donna), and Hubert (Anne); sister-in-law Mary (Dave), and a circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Dominic and Jane, brother Edward, sisters Elsie, Alma and Betty. Visitation took place at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Port Saunders on Thursday evening and Friday from where the funeral service took place on Saturday, June 29 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Gabriel officiating. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery, Sandy Cove. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
