COURTEAU, NAPOLEON
Nap passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2013 in his 86th year. He was born in Zenon Park to Maurice and Desneiges Courteau and grew up there with his two brothers and three sisters. When old enough, he worked in Grandpa Maurice’s general store and sometimes hauled lumber as part of the business enterprise. Nap also worked three quarter sections of farm land not far from the store. Some winters he was employed at a sawmill or traveled to Alberta or Manitoba to work on oil rigs. During this time, Nap met Aline Dupuis who had moved to the area from Hoey, SK to teach. They were married in 1949. Their first son, Guy, was born in 1951 and then Michel in 1956. That same year they moved to Prince Albert. In 1960 their third son, Neil, was born. Nap ran Club Billiards on 10th Street West until about 1961 when an unfortunate excavation accident destroyed the building and the business. Nap then took bookkeeping and accounting at Prince Albert Business College and did accounting for the City of Prince Albert for five years. In about 1968, he moved to employment with the newly constructed Prince Albert Pulp Company, again as an accountant and later as a purchasing agent. Here he remained until his retirement in 1992. Throughout most of this time Nap enjoyed camping and his lake time. When he could manage it, he took numerous trips (with Aline, sister Antoinette, or Rita), to Spain, Greece, Israel, Hawaii, France and New Zealand. Much of the rest of his time was spent keeping a few rental properties operating. (That 1968 utility trailer has seen a lot of miles.) Sadly for our family, Nap and Aline didn’t have much retirement time together as Aline passed in 1995. Several years later Nap married Rita Rabu. The remaining years were spent in Prince Albert, Saskatoon and Bellevue. Nap was predeceased by: his wife Aline; his son Neil; his brothers Roger and Paul (Paul in 1937); his sisters Laurette Moyen and Antoinette Houle. He is survived by: his second wife Rita; his sister Aline Sirois; his sons Guy (Claudette) Courteau and Michel Courteau; his grandson Nolan (Brittni) and great-granddaughter Georgi; and granddaughter Alanna (Scott) Kurytnik; his daughter-in-law Cindy Hainstock and her son Damon Mirasty; special family friends Bahram and Jinus Makari. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 16 at River Park Memorial Chapel, 301 River Street West, Prince Albert. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of RIVER PARK MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Prince Albert, SK 306 764-2727, Donald M. Moriarty, Funeral Director.
