Passed peacefully away at the Interfaith Citizen’s Home, Carbonear on Monday, July 15, 2013, Mrs. Dorothy Somerton, formerly of Bay Roberts, aged 90 years. Predeceased by parents William and Susannah (Parsons) Somerton, husband Reuben Somerton, daughters Cynthia Piercey and Hazel (died in infancy), sisters: Joyce (John) Bradbury, Martha (Walter) Saunders, Muriel (George) Mercer, Rita (Donald) Smith and Emmie (died in infancy), brothers William Somerton, Gordon Somerton and Frank (Gertrude) Somerton, son-in-law Jim Sparkes and great-grandson Bradley Sparkes. Leaving to mourn daughters: Margaret Sparkes, Eleanor (Clarence) Andrews, Sheila (Phil) Thoms and Norma (Brian) Gough; sons: Wallace (May) Somerton and Reuben (Geraldine) Somerton; son-in-law Bram Piercey; sister-in-law Mildred Somerton; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 8 great- great-grandchildren and a large circle of other family and friends. Resting at Moore’s Funeral Home, Bay Roberts with visitation on Tuesday 7 – 9 p.m.; Wednesday 10 – 12 noon, 2 – 5 p.m., 7 – 9 p.m. and Thursday 10 – 12 noon. Funeral Service to take place on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church and Cemetery, Coley’s Point. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church Cemetery Fund.
