DONALD MATTHEW DELAMERE
After a long battle with illness, Donald Delamere peacefully passed away at Abbotsford Regional Hospital on August 2, 2013. Don was born in Saskatoon on June 25, 1944. He spent a happy childhood in Prince Albert and after graduating high school in 1962, joined the R.C.A.F. After reaching the rank of Cpl, Don received a BSc degree from the University of Winnipeg and was granted a Queen's Commission as an officer. Captain Delamere retired after 27 years service to his country. Don continued to work for defence contractors and later for the Corp of Commissionaires working mostly in White Rock, BC for 12 plus years. Don coached softball and hockey, was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, a techie, an avid cyclist and Saskatchewan Rough Rider fan, and was best known for helping out people in need. He was predeceased by his parents Marjorie and Albert Delamere and birth father, Donald Roberge. Don is survived by his sons, Scott, Shaun (Michelle) and Matthew (Nicole), his partner Arlene Mussato, birth mother Helen Schindel, biological siblings, Doug and Elaine Roberge, Barb, Joan, Janet and Judy Schindel, grandchildren Amanda, Andrew, Nicholas, Christopher, Samantha and Tommy. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Chapel Lawn in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada. A special thanks to his Aunt Teri Roberge and the medical staff at Abbotsford Hospital for their care and compassion.
