BURSLEM, ELLEN ANDAROWOUS HANNA (née SHAKHASHIRI) - Ellen, the beloved wife and best friend for 45 years of Michael Burslem, died suddenly on August 4th, 2013. She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Shatha Shakhashiri, of Cairo, Egypt, her nephew and niece, Bassam and June Shakhashiri of Madison, WI, her two nieces, Amahl Drake, husband Frank, of Aptos, CA, and Maha Shakhashiri, husband Victor Abdunnur, of Stirling, VA. She is also remembered by her great nieces, Elizabeth Reynolds and fiancé, Bob Morrow, of Chicago, IL, Nadia Drake and Peter Aldhaus, of San Francisco, CA, and Leila Fossek and Chris, of Santa Barbara, CA. She is predeceased by her parents Andrew and Selwa Shakhashiri, of Enfeh, Lebanon and Cairo Egypt, and by her brothers Zekin, his wife Adma, of College Park, MD, Dia and Roh Shakhashiri, of Cairo and by Gazaa of Beirut, Lebanon. To her Arabic friends she was known as Madame Ateibi. She was much loved by all who knew her.
Interment was held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Friday, August 9th at 2 p.m. A Thanksgiving Service for her life will be held at St. George’s Church, 99, Woolwich Street, Guelph on Friday, September 13, 2013 at 11 a.m. A Dawn Redwood tree will be planted at 24 Marilyn Drive, Guelph, at 2 p.m. Friday, September 13th in her Memory. Memorials may be sent to the Bible Society of Canada, or Egypt, or to any charity serving the underprivileged, for whom she had a great love.
