BENSON, NELDA MAY - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Nelda May Benson which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, August 15, 2013. Born 1933 in Rexton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Marjorie (MacEachern) Wilson. Nelda was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 61 years, James; sons, Albion, John, Theodore (Joyce), Peter (Claudette), Walter and Howard (Roxanne), all of Grand Manan; daughters, Christine Phillips (Ron) of Moncton, Tosha Benson of Grand Manan and Lavina Legault (Mike) of Moncton; brother, Chester Wilson; sisters, Irene Wilson, Olive Spencer and Bessie Shields; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, Nelda was predeceased by her brothers, Cecil, Tom and Ralph Wilson; and sister, Hilda Dunn.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Visitation will also take place in Grand Manan at Seal Cove Wesleyan Church (1900 Route 776) on Monday, August 19 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held at Seal Cove Wesleyan Church on Tuesday, August 20 at 1:30 pm followed by an interment at Mark Hill Cemetery.
