MUISE, Joseph Alfred – age 74, Amirault’s Hill, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Monday, September 2, 2013 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born December 6, 1938 in Amirault’s Hill, he was a son of the late Jerome and Elizabeth (Amirault) Muise. Anyone who knew our father knew that his children, and especially his grandchildren, were the light of his life and most recently his beautiful great granddaughter, Alivia. He was also a special n’oncle to Réal. Dad’s favorite color Liberal red. He was a big sports fan, and his favorite teams were the Boston Bruins and the Red Sox. He drove anyone who needed a ride or anything picked-up. He worked for the Department of Highways, was also self-employed with his truck and backhoe and worked as a janitor at Amirault’s Hill School. Joe is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Rose (Hubbard) Muise, as well as by daughters, Shirley Belliveau (John Saulnier), Amirault’s Hill, and Joanne (Mike) Wood, Hubbard’s Point, as well as grandchildren, Lacey, André, Lucas, Jeremy, a great-granddaughter, Alivia, and a great nephew, Réal Moulaison. Also surviving is a brother, Emile (Cecile) Muise, North Bay, Ont., and sisters, Jeanette Hubbard and Augusta (Eugene) Doucette, both of Amirault’s Hill. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Leslie, Nelson, Rosabelle, Gerald, Joseph, Nelson, Shirley, Gertrude and Catherine. Visitation took place from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, with prayers at 8 p.m., both at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. Funeral was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 5 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Amirault’s Hill, Deacon Bruce Hubbard officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. It has been requested that there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the IWK Hospital Foundation or to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
