KANE, Colin Paul- 58 of Yarmouth N.S, was called Home to Glory Wednesday, September 4th, 2013. Colin had been a resident of Villa St. Joseph Du-Lac in Yarmouth for the past 5 years. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, he moved with his family to Dartmouth NS as a teen. His first job was with the Capital Grocery Store in Dartmouth. He then worked for a couple years at K-Mart before becoming a night custodian with the Halifax Co. Bedford District School Board for 16 yrs. In his earlier years Colin loved to golf, fish and paint. Numerous family and friends have his paintings hanging on their walls. He loved books and had an extensive library of over 1000. He enjoyed spending his vacations in Dipper Harbour NB at his parents’ camp. The highlight of the trip would be lobster, dulce, and spending time with his cousin and very close friend Richard. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf’s fan. He spent hours playing his violin and guitar. He loved the Lord and was very involved in his church until his health worsened. He was active in the church orchestra, choir, Bible Institute and Kings Kids ministries. Colin loved his family and was deeply proud of his children Paul and Sarah, and was excited about the soon arrival of his first grandchild Graydon. Colin is survived by his wife Cindy (Miller) Kane of 28 yrs, Yarmouth NS; son Paul (wife Jessica), Oshawa Ontario; daughter Sarah (fiancé James), Dartmouth NS; mother Mary (Thompson) Kane, Dartmouth NS; sister Rowena (husband John) Cole of Saint John NB; brothers Timothy Kane, Grand Prairie Alberta and Martin (wife Kim) Kane, Stillwater NS; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Harold. We would like to express our deep gratitude to the staff at the Villa for their care of Colin for the last 5 years. A special thanks to Dr. Julie Chandler, Dr. Horton and dentist Dr. Comeau who were so good working with a sometimes challenging patient. A deep thanks also to the paramedics and nurses who tried their best to save him. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Friday, September 6, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service was held Saturday, September 7 at 11 a.m. from Chegoggin Baptist Church, Pastor Paul Parks officiated. Interment followed in Chegoggin Cemetery. Donations in his memory can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or to the Church Planting Ministry at Chegoggin Baptist Church.
