It is with deep sadness that Ralph’s family announces his passing on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the age of 80 years. Ralph was predeceased by his first wife Betty (née Conway); parents Clarence and Laura; and brother Larry. Left to mourn Ralph’s passing are his loving wife, Bev Young; son Randy Passmore (Cathie Hunchuk); daughters Barbara (Mel) Flowers and Sharon (Roland) Genest; stepson Bill Young (Shelley Lavertu); grandchildren Jason (Cindy), Melissa (Aaron), Joel (Riva), Robyn (Jeff), Erin (Brent), Danielle (Shaun), Amanda, Brad (Victoria), Justin, and Samantha; great-grandchildren Nicholas, Jackson, Jayden, Brooklyn, Harrison, Madeleine, Jacey, Keona, Beckett, Pascal, and Zoe; sisters Sandra (Dom) Marchigiano and Eva (Tom) Stanley; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Born in Lafleche, SK, Ralph later moved to Moose Jaw where he met Betty. They were married on September 20, 1952 and were blessed with three children. After losing Betty in 1996, Ralph rekindled a friendship with Bev Young. Bev and Ralph began a romance that lasted until Ralph’s death. Dad was a truck driver and took great pride in his career. He left his career when he felt one company was putting its drivers at risk. We remember the smell of diesel and “Shhh dad is sleeping!”. Dad passed on his love of music to us all. He belonged to the Saskatoon Chimo Chordsmen for thirteen years and even once won the Barbershopper of the Year Award. Dad loved to travel but had an intense fear of flying, so he and Bev traveled by bus and car. Ralph’s many passions included his family, friends, animals, golfing, hunting and old cars. A Celebration of Ralph’s Life will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (East on 8th St., first right past Briargate Rd.). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ralph’s memory may be made to The Salvation Army (339 Ave. C North, Saskatoon, SK S7M 1N5) or a charity of your choice.
