KING, BARRY - It is with great sadness that we inform you that Barry Lorne King, 64, of Riverview, passed away peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Halifax, NS on the evening of September 7th, after a brief illness with his loving family by his side. Born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island on January 19th, 1949, he was the son of the late Alan King and Viola (Wood) King. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 38 years, Beatrice (Homer) King, his adoring daughters, Amanda King of Riverview and Lindsay (King) Lawless (Matthew) of Dieppe, and his fur-granddaughters, Lola and Kitty. He is also survived by his only sister, Tania King MacNeill of Sussex, brothers Dennis (Lynne) of Newcastle, Ontario, Ron (Jan) of Sussex, and Lance King (Lorraine) of Saint John, his brother-in-laws, Bev Homer (Darlene) of Charlottetown, PE, Greg Homer (Kerry Moore) of Fall River, NS, his sister-in-laws Mary Northrup and Cathy Lyttle (Blair) both of Sussex Corner as well as many adoring nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Gary. Barry was a lover of all music and was an avid record collector. He was on top of the “next big thing” in music and he was always right. He also enjoyed golfing, reading and hockey. He especially loved the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Moncton Wildcats. Most of all, Barry loved his family and had close knit, unique relationships with all of them, immediate and extended. He will be remembered and loved for his easy going way, ease of laughter and his unique ability to bring that out in anyone who shared his presence. Barry spent his career working in the accounting field. He was currently employed as the Financial Controller at Doug Bragg Enterprises in Collingwood, NS and considered the Bragg’s his extended family.
Resting at Wallace Funeral Home in Sussex, NB, visitations will be held on Tuesday, September 10 from 6 to 8pm and on Wednesday, September 11 from 1 to 3pm and 6 to 8pm. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 12 at 2pm at St. John’s United Church in Sussex Corner, NB. The family will be receiving people immediately following the service at the St. John’s United Church Centre. A private interment will take place at Riverbank Cemetery in Norton, NB at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of the following organizations: The Heart & Stroke Foundation, Moncton Headstart, Food Depot Alimentaire in Moncton or a charity of the donor’s choice.
