Lorraine  Duxbury

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lorraine Duxbury on August 31, 2013 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in Brockton, Mass, USA on June 9, 1928 the daughter of J. Raymond and Marcie (LeBlanc) Duxbury.
She is survived by her brother, J. Robert (Alice Mae) Duxbury; Godchildren, Margo (Ivan) Hookey-Toner of Halifax, Mary Lynne Chapman of Amherst and Bill Terry of Manitoba. Special friends, Wenda and Percy Landry and Doug Heffell.
Lorraine attended St. Charles School and graduated from St. Charles Commercial in 1945. Lorraine worked for Children's Aid, D A Casey Ford, and worked in Montreal and Vancouver. After returning to Amherst she worked for Moss Jewelers, retiring after 18 years as Manager. She was a volunteer at the Amherst Food Bank, St. Vincent de Paul, and the Cumberland County Museum. She was a member of the Amherst Business Ladies Curling Club, she followed the world's curling in Germany, Switzerland, Scotland, USA and across Canada. She was awarded an Honorary Membership to the Amherst Curling Club in 2008.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of the CRHCC for their wonderful compassionate care.
In keeping with Lorraine's wishes, there will be no visitation or public funeral service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (667-8777). Donations may be made in Lorraine's memory to the VON, St. Vincent de Paul or a charity of your choice.
