It's with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frederick Clarence Boutilier 'Big Fred' at the ICU in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Sept. 9, 2013.
Big Fred was employed by Hopkins Ltd., Port Morien. His greatest joy was spending time with his five grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Fred is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia for 43 years and their two sons, Freddie (Shannon), Reserve Mines, and Robert (Heather), Birch Grove. Also by his grandchildren, Roger, Samantha, of Birch Grove, Jarod, Brandon and Logan of Reserve Mines.
Fred leaves behind sisters, Gladys Spedding, Katherine Hiscock, Ruth Jones, Carolyn MacIntyre, Doris O’Brien and many loving nieces and nephews, in-laws.
Predeceased by parents, Artis and Mary Boutilier, Port Morien, by sisters, Violet Lawerence, Freda Head, Roseiline Meade, brothers, Leonard, Hubert, Freeman and infant sister and brother, Eileen and Clarence. Fred was also predeceased by his best friend Raymond Hiscock. Together again.
Visitation for Clarence 'Big Fred' will be held on Thursday Sept. 12, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral services will be held on Friday in Patten Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. with Rev Myrna MacMullin officiating. Burial to take place in St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery, Black Brook.
A special thanks to Dr. P. Kent Cadegan, the doctors, nurses and staff of the ICU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
