McMaster, Winifred “Fred”, 97, Debert and formerly of Masstown
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Winifred “Fred” McMaster, 97, on September 10, 2013 at Debert Court. He was born in Folly Lake, NS to the late John and Jane (Graham) McMaster. He served during the Second World War. He lived the majority of his life in Masstown, working as a heavy equipment operator and later a mechanic on such. He was an avid hunter and loved to grow a huge garden, which he shared with family and friends. His love of dancing and fiddle music had him attending all the local dances and was evident even with failing health and age. After moving to Debert Court, his fiddle music would be heard playing throughout his wing as his CD player was rarely off. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Helen (Murray) also in Debert Court; son, Lester (Ruby), Debert; daughter, Wanda (Danny) Wallace, Masstown; granddaughter, Twilla, Little Dyke; grandson, Mark, Debert; great-granddaughters, Emma and Hannah; sister-in-law, Dorothy McMasters, Truro; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Eva (late Gerald) Lambourne; Muriel (late Frank) Barley; Dorothy (late Kenneth) Rogers; brothers, Arnold and Olin; sister-in-law, Shirley (Rushton) McMaster. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 13 from 7-9 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with funeral service on Saturday, September 14 at 2 pm in Debert Court, Shannex. Reception to follow in Debert Fire Hall. Interment in Masstown Cemetery. Family flowers only.
