Beatrice McDonagh

McDONAGH, BEATRICE “BEA” (nee DENA) - July 5, 1928 - September 15, 2013 - On Sunday, September 15, 2013, after a long life of 85 years our beloved Beatrice (Bea) with family at her bedside passed away Sunday morning, September 15, 2013 at St Joseph Villa Sudbury. Predeceased by her parents Dominick and Beatrice Dena, brother Don and sisters Fanny and Nancy (St Paul, MN). Survived by husband William (Bill), sons Thomas (Phoenix, Az), Patrick (Martha Bright), William (Billy), daughter Cynthia (John Chamyk), her grandchildren, Beatrice, Mary and James, her surviving sisters Carmella and Connie (St Paul, MN) and many nieces, nephews, cousins in United States and Canada. Beatrice moved from St Paul MN to Canada in 1953 when husband Bill started his studies at the University of New Brunswick followed by 4 years in Levack Ontario, 1 year in Marmora Ontario and settled in Copper Cliff 1961 for the last 52 years. Bea’s first love was her family. She attended to every need of her family full of love and laughter. She will be best remembered for her love of cooking. Many people were welcomed into her home to eat, learn to cook or teach Bea a new recipe or two. Every meal was homemade (oh can you taste her homemade pizzas). Bea was very creative. She designed and made her own quilts, filled her walls with petit point, sewing and knitting. She was a member of the Copper Cliff Italian Club, Copper Cliff Curling Club and Lively Golf Course. Bea loved to watch hockey, golf and tennis. In her spare time she worked part-time at the Copper Cliff Post Office. Bea always had a smile on her face, would say hello to everyone, lend a helping hand to those in need and most of all will be remembered for her laughter… oh how she loved to laugh. Alzheimer's took Bea from us several years ago but her laughter and love of food, especially anything chocolate was her driving spirit. Thank you to all the staff at St Joseph Villa and Circle of Care (especially lovely Louise) for love and support our wife/mother this past year.
There will be no visitation, flowers or donations. Cremation and burial will occur at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home. The family will be hosting a “Celebration of Life” luncheon on Monday, September 23rd from 12 to 2 pm in Copper Cliff. Location to be confirmed. Please RSVP to mcdonagh@mac.com or call the family home.
