Deborah 'Debbie' Kozera

Lieu de naissance : Glace Bay
Date de naissance : 21 février 1960

Lieu de décès : Kingston, Canada
Date de décès : 22 septembre 2013

It is with great sadness that we announce Debbie’s passing, at the age of 53, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Debbie had settled in the Annapolis Valley for the past 20 years and was formerly from Glace Bay. She passed away at her home in Kingston, N.S., on Sept. 22, 2013, surrounded by her devoted husband, family and friends.
Born in Glace Bay on Feb. 21, 1960, she was the daughter of Marion (Borgal MacLeod) MacPhee and the late William ‘Doss’ Macleod.
Debbie was a kind-hearted soul who loved to stop and smell the flowers. She had a knack for decorating, crafting and caring for others. Debbie loved shopping and enjoyed looking for a bargain, but most of all loved spending time with her family. She devoted much of her time to her children and was a proud military spouse. Debbie will always be remembered with a cup of tea in her hand and looking for something sweet to go with it.
Left with fond and loving memories are her husband of 23 years, John Patrick of Whitney Pier; daughters Samantha and Kristina (Francis Gagnon); son, Matt (Marylee [Hirtle]); grandchildren, Liam, Aiden and Catherine; and mother, Marion MacPhee. Also surviving are sisters, Karen, Donna (Greg MacDonald); brothers, Kenny (Helen), Wayne (Brenda); brothers-in-law, Kirk Boutilier and Willie Campbell; stepsisters, Rhonda, Cathy, Lesley; father-in-law, Walter 'Bud'; mother-in-law, Margie (MacNeil); sister-in-law, Kelley (Gary Gittis); grandmother, Ann MacLeod; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Debbie was predeceased by her sister, Brenda Boutilier, father, William 'Doss' MacLeod, stepfather, Neil MacPhee, maternal grandparents, Joe and Edna Borgal (Harris), paternal grandfather, William ‘Bill’ MacLeod, aunt, Jean French and uncles, Eric MacLeod, Barry MacLeod and Sheldon Borgal
A special thanks goes out to all of Debbie's caregivers, especially her sister, Donna; longtime friend, Laurie Sheppard from Ottawa; the staff of palliative care, the VON and the doctors and nurses at both Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville, and the QEII in Halifax.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the palliative care fund at the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation at http://vrhfoundation.ca.
Visitation for Debbie will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Port Caledonia, with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Interment will be in church cemetery.
Online condolences may be left for the family at www.pattenfuneral.com.
