Evelyn (Faye) Kennedy, 58, of Whitefield, Maine, passed away Friday, September 12, 2008, at Eastern Maine Medical Center due to injuries sustained in a car accident on September 3 in St. Stephen, N.B. Faye was born on October 4, 1949, in Prince Edward Island, Canada, the daughter of Howard and Evelyn (German) Muirhead. She was one of 15 brothers and sisters and has many wonderful stories of growing up in such a large family. She married Charles Patrick Gerstel Sr. of Jamaica Plains, Mass., on June 20, 1970, and after being widowed, married Harold Kennedy of Lincolnville, Maine, on May 25, 2002. Faye is survived by four of her five children: Marie Menchaca and her husband Leo of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; Audrey Booker and her husband Paul of Harmony, Maine; Laura Duffy and her husband Steve of Fairfield, Maine; and Steven Gerstel and his partner Jon Tafoya of San Francisco, California; her grandchildren: Dylan, Morgan and Riley Callin, Orion Menchaca, Paul, Owen, Grace, and Asa Booker, Daniel and Arressa Gerstel, and Autumn Duffy. She is survived by nine brothers and sisters and their spouses: Delbert (Marilyn) Muirhead, Victor (Carol) Muirhead, Jeannie (Dale) Farish, George Muirhead, Carol (Ron) Gaines, Enid Muirhead, Audrey Edison, John (Gail) Muirhead, Lee Muirhead; her three aunts, Irene Hepburn, Louise Rafuse, and Laverne (Darby) Brown; her mother-in-law, Christine Kennedy and family, and many, many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Faye was predeceased by her husband, Charles on December 13, 1999; her husband, Harold on May 20, 2008; her son, Charles Patrick Gerstel Jr. on September 18, 1994; her father, Howard in 1988; her mother, Evelyn in 2005; and her brothers, Russell Muirhead, William Muirhead, John Eldon Muirhead, Douglas Muirhead and Daniel Muirhead. Resting at the Cutcliffe Funeral Home from where the funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel Wednesday at 12 noon. Interment to follow in the family plot in the North Tryon Presbyterian Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home Wednesday 10 until time of service. Those who knew and loved Faye will hold in their hearts the memories she created through her love of her family and friends, her generous and loyal spirit, and of course her music will live on in all of us forever.
