Ruby Maria Betts, 88, of River Hebert, passed away suddenly at her home on Tuesday, Septeber 24, 2013. Born in Minudie, Ruby was a daughter of the late Fred and Florence (Field) Gordon.
Ruby had an open-door policy at her home and had dedicated her life to the care and well being of her family. She loved gardening and in particular, her flowers. She was a quilter and had a great talent for crocheting. Her work fills the homes of her family and friends. She had a great affection for her dogs, and all animals in general.
Ruby will be sadly missed by two daughters, Florence (Gilles Lalonde) Wilbur, Dartmouth and Edna (James) Embree, Chapman Settlement; four sons, Wayne (Viola), Spruce Grove, AB, Ernest (Linda), Wabamun, AB, Lloyd, of River Hebert and Garnet (Heather), Chapman Settlement; fourteen grandchildren, Tammy, Troy, Michelle, Jennifer, Jamie, Tanya, Jason, Matt, Danielle, Joseph, William, Chastity, Terry, and Fred; fifteen great grandchildren; a sister, Hattie Hubley, Chapman Settlement; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Ruby was predeceased by her husband Earle in 1997; a sister, Francis, a brother Frank and a sister, Clara, in infancy.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) from where visitation will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 11 am until the time of the funeral service at 1 pm. Following the service, Ruby will be laid to rest along side her husband in the Hillside Cemetery, River Hebert.
