GIROUARD, EMERY - Emery Girouard, 99, passed away on Monday September 30, 2013 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. He was residing at Domaine de la Vallée in Memramcook and formerly of Maple Street in Moncton. Born on May 20, 1914 in Moncton, he was the son of the late Donat and Marguerite (Belliveau) Girouard. Prior to his retirement, Emery was manager at Rubin's Men's Wear and had also worked at Colpitt's Men's Wear. He studied in Moncton schools and at Université du Sacré-Coeur in Bathurst. He was very involved with many parish activities and organizations: member and pioneer of A.C.J.C., Jeunesse Acadienne de Moncton, founder member and former president of Caisse Populaire Assomption, officer with the Fédération Acadienne des Caisses Populaires, founder member, former president and director of Cercle Acadien, and member of the Greater Moncton Planning Commission. He is survived by many nieces and nephew. Emery was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorilla (Gautreau); two sisters: Lorraine and Rita; four brothers: Albert, Aurèle, Edgar and Camille.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Christ-Roi R.C. Church, 300 Dominion Street, Moncton, on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 9:30 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe.
