Clarence Whitney Theal

Clarence Whitney Theal, age 97 of River Hebert passed away on Thursday October 3, in the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born on May 5, 1916, Clarence was the youngest son of the late Rufus and Emma Theal.
A veteran of WWII he served as a gunner with the 8th Cdn Hussars in England, North Africa, Italy and Holland, returning to Canada in 1946. He was employed as a Coal Miner in River Hebert and raised cattle on the family farm. He was a life long member the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 14 in River Hebert. Clarence is survived by his son, Harley (Rosemary) of River Hebert, two grandchildren, Bonnie of Ottawa,ON, and Michael of Kitchner Waterloo, ON; seven great grandchildren all of Ontario.
He was predeceased by his wife, Effie, brothers, Harley and William, sisters, Laura, Mabel, Lillian and Sadie.
Special thanks to the Medical Staff at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Springhill Hospital and the Veterans Wing at High Crest Nursing Home for the compassionate care provided to Clarence over the past five months.
Cremation has taken place and visitation will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion River Hebert on Friday,October 11 from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Clarence Clarke at the River Hebert Legion on Saturday, October 12 at 2 p.m followed by interment at the Hillside Cemetery,River Hebert.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the River Hebert Legion, Branch 14,or the River Hebert Volunteer Fire Department.
