WESTON: Margaret Viola - June 29, 1925-October 8, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vi Weston. Vi was born on the Johnston family farm in the Beverley Saskatchewan district and was one of a combined family of 12 brothers and sisters. She grew up in the area and attended Seward Hill School. She worked domestically in the Gull Lake area and in 1946 married Berney Weston. They continued to live in the area starting a garage business and eventually establishing a mixed farm north of Antelope. Vi and Berney were an active part of the community until Berney's death in 1973. During that time they had three children Arnold, Lorraine and Kevin. Vi moved to Swift Current then to Falkland and Creston, BC to be nearer her brothers. Vi eventually moved back to the Gull Lake area and spent her later years as a resident of Autumn House and the Gull Lake Care Home. Vi is survived by her daughter Lori (Dave) Watkins and her sons Arnold (Marlene) Weston and Kevin Weston. She was a loving Grandmother to Carly, Kent, Chad, Clint and Eric and Great Grandma to Jayda, Josh, Berney, Millie and Izzy. Vi is survived by her brother Vern Johnston(Bev), and sisters in law Hedy Johnston, Lorraine Retzer, Mary Brown and Mabel Weston and brothers in law Ross Hamilton, John and Carl Weston and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Berney, sisters Muriel Hamilton, Irene Knox, Enid Hay and Grace Fulsher, her brothers Winston, Max, Wellesley, Ivan, Ernest and Lawrence, sisters in law Betty, Emma, Bertie and Grace Johnston, Bea, Marjorie, Pearl, Ellen and Charlotte Weston, Lily Konradson, May Trembath and brothers in law Neville Fulsher, Clyde Hay, Jack Knox, Roy, Percy, Albert and Maurice Weston, Arnie Konradson, Lawrence Brown and Bus Trembath. Vi touched many lives over her life and all of us who loved her knew her to be a joyful, optimistic, independent and loving presence in both good and challenging times. Vi was diagnosed with MS in 1960 and dealt with decreasing mobility over some 53 years. In spite of this she continued to raise her family, help with the farm and encourage those around her. No one remembers her ever complaining of her personal challenges. Vi enjoyed church, the outdoors, fishing, canning vegetables and fruit, a good game of checkers and sharing with friends and family. All who knew her will miss her smile, her love and her enduring faith. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Autumn House and especially the Gull Lake Care Home for their support and for the love and care they provided to Vi over the time she was a resident there. It meant a lot to her to spend her final years in her home community. A service will be held in the Gull Lake Knox United Church on Saturday, October 19 at 2:00 pm.
