William "Bill" Marshall

William "Bill" Marshall

Date de décès : 25 octobre 2013

With extreme sadness we announce the passing of William (Bill) James Marshall on October 25, 2013 at the Regina General Hospital. With his family by his side Bill left us after a brief illness. Bill was a wonderful and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He was born in Moose Jaw in 1932 and lived his entire life there. In 1956 he met and married the love of his life and best friend Joyce, together they were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Lori and Cathy. Bill was a very active person and full of life. In the 60's and 70's he enjoyed coaching Pony League Baseball and Minor League Hockey. In 1960 Bill joined the Kinsmen Club, and then the K-40's becoming a life time member. Being a very active member he was always one of the first people to volunteer for a work party and he rarely, if never, missed a good party. He formed many great friendships over the years which he cherished very dearly. In the 80's Bill joined the Elks Club. Many weekends were enjoyed with their friends dancing the nights away, (Bill loved to dance), shooting pool during the day with his pals, volunteering to peel vegetables, flipping pancakes or working at Bingo. Not to mention, the Riders have lost a dedicated and truly loyal fan in Bill. He and Joyce held season tickets for over 30 years. In 1990, after working for 40 years for the CPR, Bill decided to retire and take up golfing. He enjoyed many great days golfing with his buddies at Hillcrest, and whether he had a good game or not, he was always in a good mood. Bill was predeceased by his parents James and Margaret Marshall. He will be very sadly missed by his wife Joyce, daughters Lori (Kevin) of Calgary, Cathy (Brian) of Vernon; and grandchildren Tyler and Jillianne. He is also survived by his brother Keith (Brenda), sister-in-law Vel, brothers-in-law Murray (Lonnie), Pat (Ev), Gordon (Beth) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and of course his furry friend Jasper. The family would also like to express a special thank you to the doctors and nurses and staff in the SICU Ward at Regina General Hospital for the attention they paid to Bill in the hours he spent with them. Their compassion, care and understanding were and always will be very much appreciated. As keeping with Bill's wishes, there will be no funeral service. A Memorial Tea will be held at St. Andrew’s Lounge & Court, 60 Athabasca St.E., Moose Jaw on Thursday October 31, 2013 from 1 – 4 pm. It would be Bill's wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Kinsmen Telemiracle, a cause he deeply cared about. In living memory of Bill, a memorial planting will be made by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
