Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, in Camphill Veterans Memorial Building, QE II.
Born in New Haven, Victoria County, Walter was the son of the late Alfred and Mary 'Minnie' (Burrage).
He enlisted in 1942 in the Canadian Army and served overseas in the Continental Armoured Corps Division. He re-enlisted in 1946 to 1953 and served with NATO.
The most important things in Walter's life were his wife, his family, fiddle music, politics and he was well known for his ability to build anything and everything.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years , "his girl" Mary (Dixon); children, Anne Rambeau, Smelt Brook, Linda Conrad (Iver), Shubenacdie, Tom (Linda), Milford, Barbara Leslie (Albion), Grand Manan, N.B., Bryston, Dartmouth, Shirley Clark (Robert), Sackville, Carvell, Grand Manan, N.B.; sister, Lil Morse (Ken), Kingston; brothers, George (Theresa), New Haven, Alymer, New Haven; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Walter was predeceased by brothers, Hector, Thomas, Gordon, sisters, Blanche and Helen, son-in-law, Joseph Rambeau, grandson, Christopher Clark.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date, when "his girl" Mary joins him.
