Michael Young, 51, passed away suddenly on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013.
Born and raised in Glace Bay, he was the son of Hannah Rose (McDonald) Young and the late Richard Young.
Michael was a member of St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay. He worked at various jobs throughout his lifetime, the last being with Han Beck Fisheries. Michael was a very easy going and likeable man who enjoyed nature, animals — especially dogs and woodworking. He adored and deeply loved his two children.
Michael is survived by his daughter, Alysha (Derrick), Glace Bay; two brothers, Richard, Tommy, Glace Bay; three sisters, Rita (Joe) Kubat, Carol (Ray) Whitmore, Ontario, Patricia West, Dartmouth and one granddaughter, Tonya.
Besides his father, Michael was predeceased by his daughter, Tonya when she was only 13-years old.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church followed by a reception in the foyer. Cremation to follow with interment at a later date in St. Anne’s Cemetery.
