Herbert Paul MacLeod, 69 years, of Amherst, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the Late Claude "Dingy" James and Mary Kathlene (MacDonald) MacLeod.Herb was educated in Springhill and Norwood, Mass., and later employed with Fractory Mutual Engineering Corp for 15 years followed by another 17 years with Surrette Battery. He was a great sports spectator and enjoyed music, dancing and his friends and family.
He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Mary Kay Jean MacLeod, Amherst and Christy-Sue (Douglas) Olson, Detroit, MI; son, Daniel Paul MacLeod, Boston, Mass; sisters, Claudia MacLeod and Carolyn MacLeod both of Springhill; grandchildren, Sabrina, Skyla, Chase, Jackie, Randy and Kali.
In addition to his parents, Herb was predeceased by his wife the former Deanna Cormier; sister, Rebecca Elaine. brother, William "Billy" MacLeod.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361). Family and friends were invited to visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 from 7-9 pm. Funeral mass held on Thursday, October 31, at 11 am from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church. Burial in the North Street Cemetery, Springhill, N. S.
