NADIA DAIL GISI

Nadia passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, November 11, 2013 in the Palliative Care Ward at the Victoria Hospital. Nadia was born April 2, 1964 in Saskatoon, and was raised on the family farm near Aberdeen where she quickly developed her strong work ethic and compassion for the people in her life. Nadia attended school in Aberdeen and later joined the work force in the kitchen at the old Saskatoon Sanatorium. After obtaining her Special Care Aide training, Nadia moved on to Parkridge Centre in Saskatoon. It was at that time she met Brent Gisi through mutual friends. Brent and Nadia quickly developed a relationship that would last forever and were married on April 27, 1991. Employment brought Brent back to Prince Albert at around that same time. Nadia left Parkridge and came with Brent to PA and quickly found employment at Mont St. Joseph care home where she worked for fifteen years. Looking for a change, she moved over to Pineview Terrace Lodge where she worked till illness forced her to take leave. Nadia touched so many people at the homes where she worked, whether it be the residents she cared for or the staff that worked with her. She had a special quality that made people around her better. Her love of design was evident in the home she and Brent built in 2008. Nadia had the idea what she wanted and with a little help was able to incorporate it into reality. The flowers that adorned the house and grounds were all her doing, and it was obvious that she never met a flower she didn’t like. After moving to Prince Albert, Nadia started playing golf, first tagging along with Brent, and then getting involved with the Business Girls Golf Club at Cooke Municipal. Golf became a big part of Nadia’s life and was something she truly enjoyed, especially the PA Ladies Northern and the Ladies Lobstick in Waskesiu where fun was always had (especially on the Lido Deck). In the winter, there was the Thursday Night Curling League that was always fun and good for a few laughs. Rider and Raider games were also another enjoyment she looked forward to. Nadia is survived by her husband Brent; her mother Helen Hryciw of Saskatoon; her sister Paulette Procyshyn of Aberdeen and her daughter Candace (Mike) Voldeng and family; her brother Zenon (Lisa) Hryciw of Saskatoon and their sons Logan and Aiden; her sister Judy (Gerald) LePage of Stony Plain, AB, and their children Mikal LePage, and Melissa (Quinton) Kowalczyk and their families; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Lee and June Gisi of Prince Albert; her two sisters-in-law Teri (Paul) Popil of Prince Albert and their children Blair and Kelly (Rob) Caruk and family, Darla (Dave) Urscheler of Saskatoon and their children Ryan and Michele. Nadia was predeceased by her father Don Hryciw in 1991; her brother-in-law Peter Procyshyn also in 1991. Thanks go out to Dr. Dale Ardell for all his help, to the staff at Pineview Terrace Lodge, and to the staff on the 5th Floor Palliative Care Ward at the Victoria Hospital. Prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 15 at River Park Memorial Chapel, with Mrs. Margaret Ferchuk officiating. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 16 at St. Mark Roman Catholic Church with Father Tuan Doan. Interment will be at a later date. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wayne Timoffee, Funeral Director.
