Carolyn Denyse Butler (nee Landry)

It is with great sadness and a profound sense of loss that her loving family announces the passing on November 14, 2013 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown of Carolyn Denyse (Landry) Butler, beloved wife of Bernard Butler.
It was while attending high school in Halifax that Denyse met her future husband, Bernard Butler, who together would become best friends and lifelong companions through to the moment of her untimely passing.
Denyse was born in Antigonish in 1952, the third of seven children, daughter of R. Yvonne Landry and the late Malcolm H. Landry. Denyse was raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she attended St. Patrick's High School and went on to more formal education at St. Francis Xavier University and Dalhousie University where she obtained her BA (Honours) degree and eventually her MSW degree at Dalhousie University's School of Social Work. Denyse enjoyed a varied and challenging career in her chosen field of social work, having worked with the Canadian Paraplegic Association and the Children's Aid Society of Halifax before placing her career on hold to raise her three wonderful children.
Having relocated to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island in 1984, Denyse eventually rejoined the workforce as a social worker holding various positions with both the Queen's Health Authority in Charlottetown and eventually the Queens Health Region. Her most recent position was that of Child Welfare Supervisor working in the area of focused intervention. Child Welfare was one of her many enduring passions.
Denyse was a loving wife and mother, who found time to balance her family duties and obligations which always came first, with those of her profession, her many friends, and her community. She will be deeply missed by her husband, family and many friends.
Denyse is survived by her husband, Bernard; their three children, Robert Jonathan Butler (Ashley Teis), Andrew Jeremy Butler and Meghan Anne Butler; as well as by her mother, Yvonne Landry; four sisters, Yvonne Martin, Regis Landry, Nancy Purcell (Danny), Rosemary Landry; two brothers, Bill and Fonce, all of Halifax; her father-in-law, the Honourable Robert Butler, Halifax; two brothers-in-law, Gregory (Alison) Canning, N.S., and Ian, Abbotsford, B.C.; and a sister-in-law, Rosemary (Mark Cuming), Hubley, N.S.; many nieces and nephews and several grand-nieces and nephews.
