PETERSON- Germaine - July 4, 1934 - November 18, 2013. “It is not sorrow that lasts forever - it is love.” It is with great sadness that Gerry’s family announces her sudden passing on November 18, 2013. Predeceased by her parents, Charles and Irene; brother Leo; sisters Cecile and Juliette; son Ronald; and great granddaughter Keiara. Gerry was born in 1934 in Edmonton, Alberta. She was raised in the Barrhead area and married Stanley Peterson on July 13, 1953. Stan and Gerry made their home on the farm south of Climax, Saskatchewan. As a young couple they enjoyed square dancing and playing cards. In later years they spent many summers at Lac Pelletier, Saskatchewan. The grandchildren have many fond memories of learning to waterski, tubing and roasting marshmallows over the campfire. In later years they enjoyed travelling with family and friends to many distant places such as Halifax, Minnesota, Hawaii, Dominican Republic, Florida, Expo ’86 and Alaska. Gerry enjoyed her many crafts. In her own home she taught ceramic classes to many friends and neighbors. Through the years Gerry did many other crafts from macramé to making jewelry to folk art. Gerry took great pride in her flower garden and strawberry patch. Gerry was a member of the Ladies Altar Society for many years. Gerry was president of the Southline Seniors and spent countless hours volunteering at the Centre serving coffee and sweets. She is survived by her loving husband Stanley and six children: Raymond (Karen) of Climax, grandchildren Jeff and Megan; Rick (Joyce) of Climax, grandchildren Erica (Curtis) and Jon (Alix); Anna (Jack) Tamblyn of Vanguard, grandchildren Devin (Amy) and great-grandson Kobe, Shayne, Kyna (Marshall) and great-granddaughter Tayah; Darlene (Roy) Darling of Killam, AB and grandchildren Shannyn and Dylan; Cindy (Eldon) Vasseur of Red Deer, AB and grandchildren Ron and great-granddaughters Vanessa and Hailey, April (Chad) and great-granddaughters Kennedy and Rylee, Brandon and Damien; Denise (Darren) Brown of Sherwood Park, AB and grandchildren Dayne, Drayden and Dannica. Funeral Services were held at Climax Catholic Church on November 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Father John Mock officiating. Ushers were Pat Olszewski and Matthew Toeckes. Interment took place at Climax Cemetery. Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
