GETZ: Harry of Swift Current, SK passed away on November 16, 2013 at the age of 88 years. A Memorial Service was held on Friday, November 22, 2013 from Christ the Redeemer Roman Catholic Church with Father Richard Jasiak MSF officiating. The interment will be held at a later date in the Memory Gardens Cemetery. The organist was Yolande Gorrill with Peggy Marshall as the soloist. The eulogy was read by Christina Bourne, and honorary urn bearers are all who shared in Harry's life. Harry is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Theresa Getz; his children, John (Brenda) Getz of Abbottsford, BC, Rosemarie (Norman) Sutherland of Swift Current, SK, Kathy Gray of Swift Current, SK, Sharon (Wes) Adrian of Cabri, SK, Gerald Getz of Sceptre, SK, William Getz of Hazlet, SK, and Peggy Getz-Schafer of Swift Current, SK; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his granddaughter Amber Getz; great grandson Ryker Bourne; his parents Nicholas and Regina Getz; three sisters and one brother. Harry married Theresa Schmaltz on October 12, 1953. Harry was an avid grain farmer and a Horned Hereford Cattle Ranger all his life. He was the president of the Sceptre Community Pasture Association, which he enjoyed. Harry had a strong religious faith and he loved spending time with his family, and also enjoyed playing cards, farming, hunting, fishing, and of course watching his three favorite shows Coronation Street, Heartland, and Young Riders.
