It is with saddened hearts that we announce the sudden death of Melvin Mclean at home on Nov. 21, 2013.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Alex and Elizabeth (Winstanley) McLean.
Melvin worked for Devco for many years as a coal hauler, he was also president of the Hub Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy and his daughter, Christa. He will be greatly missed by his brothers, Albert (Lois) and Robert (Joanie); his sisters, Sis, Jean and Tootsie (Dave); brothers-in-law, Peter, Garth (Kilby) Kipping; daughter-in-law, Sonya; two precious grandchildren, Jeremy and Haley.
He was predeceased by his only son, Robert, brothers, Willie, Joseph and sister, Beatrice.
Melvin will be deeply missed by his many friends and family, especially by his good friend Wayne Eagles. Melvin was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back. He would always make you laugh while in his presence.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will take place 10 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church today (Monday, Nov. 25, 2013). Reception to follow at the Hub Club.
