HITCHCOCK, DAWNA - After a courageous battle with cancer, Dawna Hitchcock of Arthurette passed away peacefully at Hotel Dieu St. Joseph Hospital on November 22, 2013. Dawna was born in Plaster Rock, NB on July 9, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Donald and Edna Ward. She leaves behind her husband Dale Hitchcock; her daughters Kim Evans (Darren) of Riverview, Kelly Briggs (Alan) of North View, Toby Antworth (Todd) of Florenceville-Bristol; brothers Cecil Ward (Pat) of Orillia, ON, Percy Ward (Pat) of Mississauga, ON, Russell Ward (Barbara) of Plaster Rock; grandchildren Chelsey Briggs, Jarred Briggs, Deven Briggs, Matthew Evans, Sydney Evans, Nicholas Antworth, and Jonathan Antworth. She was predeceased by her parents and a granddaughter Katlynn Antworth. Dawna graduated from Tobique Valley High School in 1958. She later worked for NB Power. She was a member of St. George's Anglican Church in Plaster Rock and a former member of the Bristol United Church. She is also a former member of the Orange Lodge. Dawna enjoyed many activities such as boating and snowmobiling. Her true passions were travelling and entertaining family and friends.
Resting at St. George's Anglican Church with visitation on Tuesday 1 to 3 pm. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 3 pm from the church. Rev. Amanda Longmoore officiating. Interment will follow in the Plaster Rock Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Hotel Dieu St. Joseph Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover and Plaster Rock.
