John Joseph Curran, of Victoria Road, Sydney, passed away with his loving family by his side on Thursday, November 21, 2013, at the Halifax Infirmary.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late John and Pauline (Flynn) Curran.
For 45 years, John worked for Cape Breton Beverages, retiring in June 2011. He enjoyed many pleasures in life such as, dancing, bowling, fishing, playing pool and camping out on the Mira, where he spent many summers with his Burkes Campsite family.
John is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Linda 'Hun'; daughter, Deanne (Greg) Corbett, Sydney; sons, Troy and Michael, at home, as well as his four precious grandchildren, Ethan, Stephen, Madison and Keagan, who he loved to spend quality time with every day. Words cannot express how wonderful a poppy he was. He is also survived by his brother, Bill, Sydney; sisters, Helen (Junior) Ferguson and Annie (Terry) Gushue, both of Sydney; and many nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his brother, Paul in infancy and sisters, Catherine Leclerc and Mary Hawco.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at St. Theresa’s Church on Thursday 10 a.m., with Rev. James Oliver officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
