Murphy, Freida Marguerite (Holmes), age 78, of West Jeddore, N.S., passed away peacefully November 23, 2013, in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour, with the love and support of her family by her side, following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Baltic, P.E.I., she was a daughter of the late Grace and Alonzo Holmes. In her early years, Freida was actively involved with the Tignish Drama Club. She worked extraordinarily hard at operating Murphy’s Tourist Home and Cottages in Tignish. After moving to Nova Scotia, Freida managed and operated Golden Coast Restaurant in Oyster Pond, where everyone who entered the doors was like family. She was a loving and devoted mother of Rick, Wendy Murphy, and Robert (Angie); loving Granny of Andy MacInnis (Erin), Jeffrey MacInnis (Jaclyn), Katti MacInnis (Matt), Mark MacInnis and Lynann Murphy; loving great-Granny of Lorelai MacInnis, Bryce Power, Jordyn MacInnis and Jace Spears; loving sister of Earith Petersen, Summerside. Freida leaves to mourn many nieces and nephews; special friends, Vince and Dianne Blakney, Lillian Godding, Olive Porter; cast and crew of the Tignish Drama Club; staff and customers of Golden Coast. She was predeceased by her dear sisters, Jean, Vivian, Marion (Bill) Henderson, Eric (Doris) Holmes; nephews, Freddy Henderson, Don Holmes, Garth Petersen, Patrick Murphy, Derek Murphy, Doug Murphy; niece, Marsha Henderson; brothers-in-law, Russel Murphy, Robert Petersen, Ulysses Breau, Frank Murphy. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Freida’s life at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, at her home, 1474 West Jeddore Rd.
