BUCHANAN, MARLENE - Marlene Ida Buchanan passed away peacefully at the Chalmer’s Regional Hospital, Fredericton. Born in Chipman, NB on April 3rd, 1938, youngest of 18 children and daughter of the late Gordon and Laura (Bishop) Day. Marlene is survived by her children, Heidi (Dave) Northrup of Flowers Cove, NB and Jay (Rachel) Buchanan of Noonan, NB; sisters, Phyllis Hanley of Saint John, NB, Elizabeth Day of Chipman and Lorna Valentinsen of Lethbridge, AB; grandchildren, Alex and Coen; great-grandchildren, Vaida and Landon; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sisters, Mildred Stevenson, Greta Bussey, Marion Ryan, Agnes Smith and Doris Campbell; brothers, Malcolm, Amos, Roland and Clifford Day. Marlene loved her family, life and her church. She volunteered countless hours assisting with many of the church functions.
Family will receive comfort at the Chipman Funeral Home (339-6612) on Wednesday, November 27th, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A celebration of Marlene’s life will be held at the Second Chipman United Baptist Church on Thursday, November 28th, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Rev. David Egers officiating. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be at the Second Chipman United Baptist Cemetery following the service.
