Ida Willena Welland, age 94, of Bayfield, passed away peacefully at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Saturday, November 30, 2013.
Born in Spence Settlement, NB, she was a daughter of the late Parker and Grace (Crawford) Briggs.
In her younger years she was a nurse in Montreal where she met her husband Robert during the War. Her life as a wife and mother took her back and forth from Ontario to Bayfield several times, having lived in Cardinal and St. Catherine's Ontario returning to the homestead in Bayfield in 1988. She was a life long member of the United Church. She was active in the UCW, Presbytery, and several other church groups. Her true passion was to travel, having been to all corners of the world.
Ida is survived by her son Robert (Ursula), Clyde River, NS; 2 grandchildren Gregory (Melanie), Calgary, AB and Lisa Welland, Chester, NS; 2 great grandchildren, Bradley and Natalie; sister-in-law Margaret Briggs, Bayfield; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert in 1984; great grandson Sean; brothers Aubrey and Robert; step-brother John Lake.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home (506-538-2241). Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Service celebrating Ida's life will be held at the Bayfield United Church on Friday, December 6, 2013, at 2 p.m., William Drysdale DLM officiating. Burial will take place in Cardinal Ontario at a later date.
