She was predeceased by her husband David in 1996, her parents, one sister, six brothers and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Ruth was born on October 7, 1923 on the family farm in the Neidpath District. She attended school in Neidpath to Grade 11. Ruth married David Gloeckler on April 23, 1949 in Regina, SK. with Eddie and Marie Spate standing up for them. During her life, Ruth worked for Cooper's Department Store, Canada Post at Christmas sorting mail, and Sears as a clerk. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Branch 56 in Swift Current. Ruth loved to walk. When she was young, she played ladies softball and in later years enjoyed watching the Toronto Blue Jays and curling on TV. Ruth could have taken her Grade 12, but she had a choice between that and having a winter coat. She chose the coat because she'd never had one. Ruth enjoyed travel. She and her cousins Bertha and Marie took a trip to Norway and Sweden, and she went on a Caribbean cruise with her daughter, Karen. She traveled to visit her children as well. She visited Karen and Rory in Halifax, and loved visiting White Rock to see Brent and Lynda and their family. She also took her daughter Linda to the Mayo Clinic in St. Paul's where they met and stayed with her cousin, Margie. Ruth especially loved all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and made great desserts. She loved playing bingo, which she usually won, and skunking her grandchildren at crib. Ruth lived for her family; she will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by them and her friends. In her memory, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #56, Swift Current, SK. Warren's Funeral Home is taking care of arrangements.
