FROESE-Lois Helen Froese (nee Ewert), age 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully on Friday, November 29, 2013, at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. Lois was born in the Main Centre area to David R. Ewert (formerly of Minnesota) and Helen Ewert (formerly of Kansas). She attended the Turnhill Church with her sister and parents, prior to their move to the Main Centre area. In the early 1950’s, she attended the Herbert Bible School and sang with a trio. She also sang with groups that were featured on television and radio. In 1959, she graduated from the Canadian Vocational Training School in Saskatoon as a Nursing Assistant and worked at the Swift Current Union Hospital. During that time, she also traveled with her parents to North Dakota, Minnesota, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, California and even as far as New Mexico to visit relatives, prior to her parents moving to Swift Current. In 1964, Lois married Henry Froese and moved to the Success area. Together, they had two children, Lori and David. Lois was involved in every aspect on the farm and more importantly, was a great mom to her children. During these years she was asked to sing at many special occasions in the Success area and also sang with the Swift Current Oratorio Choir. In her spare time she sewed, knitted, crocheted and did needlepoint. Later when Lois developed health issues, she faced them with dignity and grace, trusting that God would take care of her and her family. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Henry; children: Lori (Ron) Bergen of Saskatoon, SK, David (Loreena) Froese of Swift Current, SK; and her sister, Ruth Janz of Saskatoon, SK. She was predeceased by her parents, David R. and Helen Ewert; and by an infant brother, Samual. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the doctors, caring nurses and all the staff at the Cypress Regional Hospital. The Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at 2:00 pm from the Bridgeway Community Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Alvin Buhler officiating. The pianist for the ser4vice was Leona Knelsen with special music brought by Ben & Helena Funk and John Regier. The tribute was shared by Sandra Derksen. “Great is Thy Faithfulness” and “What a Friend We Have In Jesus” were sung by the congregation under the direction of Ben & Helena Funk and John Regier. The Interment Service preceded the Celebration of Life Service and was held at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. In memory of Lois Froese, donations made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Gideons International would be appreciated by the family.
